There are several ways you can share your broadband or satellite connection, these are the most common:
A word of warning at the start, not all equipment works with Farmside or other ipstar internet service providers, so buy your equipment carefully if you are shopping at Harvey Normans, Dick Smiths or on Trademe.
1. Install a 4 or 8 port network switch. In combination with pre-made patch leads or hard wired cat 6 data outlets, this enables you to share your internet connection with the rest of the computers in your dwelling or office and also enables the sharing of files and printers etc.
2. Install a wireless access point. This connects all wireless enabled computers through the access point to the internet. Our aerials start from 300 meters and go up to 10kms with clear line of site. A 300m or 500m is sufficient for most houses.
3. Install a combination of the two items above, which is called a wireless broadband router. This device contains both a network switch and a wireless access point. Again this can be connected to a variety of aerials.
4. Install HomeNet networking, these simple devices just plug into your 10amp socket outlets, and send data signals over the fixed wiring of your home, you can add up to 15 of these into one house. One for the satellite modem and one for each other computer you wish to add to the network.
